Attorney Andrew C. Cohen provides focused legal services in estate planning and family care matters, including the preparation of trusts and wills, probate and trust administration, special needs trusts and funding, guardianships, conservatorships, and business planning. He simultaneously earned his law degree and master’s degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh, and has been a licensed attorney since 1997. In 2011, Mr. Cohen moved his law practice to the Santa Clarita Valley and now serves clients in Valencia, the Los Angeles area, and throughout all of Southern California.

Mr. Cohen counsels clients to optimize estate plans for their specific circumstances, and is especially skilled at preparing estate plans for taxable and non-taxable estates. He has specific experience utilizing a variety of transfer tools and advanced planning devices, including but not limited to Living Trusts, Pour-over Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives, Nominations of Guardians, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs), Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts (IDGTs), and gift planning.

Unlike many lawyers, Mr. Cohen benefits from the advantages of a multi-industry background, including work in real estate development and marketing.  On a personal level, Mr. Cohen relates to families and their needs.  He lost his mother at a young age.  He and his wife, an elementary school teacher, have young children themselves.  They are very involved with youth soccer (AYSO), baseball (Hart League), camping (Adventure Guides) and chess (California Youth Chess League).  From personal experience, he has a firsthand perspective of what families need.  For clients, he takes the time to evaluate each person’s unique situation and financial holdings, understanding that people often have concerns and difficulties that are not always apparent to the casual observer.
